Árbær Open Air Museum will celabrate Iceland´s national day, June 17th. Highlights include a display of vintage cars and of Icelandic national costumes.
A visit to the Open Air Museum provides people the opportunity to experience a trip back in time. There you can see members of staff wearing apparel as was the custom in the 19th century. At Árbær Farm the housewife offers freshly baked scones (Lummur). In the pastures you will see horses, sheep, lambs, a cow and calf.
On Sunday June 9th members of the Handicrafts Association of Iceland will show visitors at Árbær Open Air Museum the art of making the national costume for women in Iceland. A fun day with arts and crafs and the national costume at the Árbær Open Air Museum.
