Árbær Open Air Museum | 13.06.2013

A visit to the Open Air Museum provides people the opportunity to experience a trip back in time. There you can see members of staff wearing apparel as was the custom in the 19th century. At Árbær Farm the housewife offers freshly baked scones (Lummur). In the pastures you will see horses, sheep, lambs, a cow and calf.

Arts & Craft Day at Árbær Open Air Museum | 06.06.2013

On Sunday June 9th members of the Handicrafts Association of Iceland will show visitors at Árbær Open Air Museum the art of making the national costume for women in Iceland. A fun day with arts and crafs and the national costume at the Árbær Open Air Museum.

Reykjavik City Museum

The Reykjavík City Museum collects and conserves objects from Reykjavík cultural history and carries out research on them, and promulgates knowledge of the history and living conditions of the people of Reykjavík from the Settlement Age to the present day. The objective of the Museum’s work is to enhance interest, understanding and respect for the history of Reykjavík, and to ensure that everyone has access to the city’s cultural heritage.
