Blacksmithing and wool working

Reykjavík City Museum will host events at Reykjavík Culture Night. Events will take place 18th august and will start at 1pm and last until 10pm.

At the Settlement Exhibition Reykjavík 871+/-2 there will be a wool-working workshop where visitors are invited to try out traditional techniques. There will be spindles and more to try out. Philippe Ricart will host the workshop. It starts at 5pm and lasts untill 10pm. The Settlement Exhibition will be open until 11pm.

Blacksmiths will be working at the Alþingi Excavation site during the whole day, throughout the evening. Event starts at 1pm untill 10pm. Archaeologists offer guided tours on the excavation site in relation to the blacksmithing. Numerous hearths have been found and the site was an active industrial site from the late 9th century till the 11th.
